I got within ten feet of Michael Jackson at the Denver airport...he looked cadaverous before he actually was such.

Closest celebrity encounter was clowning with Patch Adams (the real doc, not Robin W) at a hospital here in Boise.  He was loving, quick with the ad libs, and we went out for a couple beers after. 

Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford like to eat at a restaurant near me. One time I walked in and they were sitting with their son and daughter, having a cozy dinner. They seem like such a nice family. Even the waiter at that restaurant said that Kathie Lee is as nice as can be.

I sat next to New York Times sports writer Harvey Araton once while covering a University of Connecticut women's basketball game. That was very cool and we became friends for a long time after that.

I interviewed Johnny Unitas for a kids' book on famous quarterbacks. He was the nicest, nicest guy. 

Another person I once interviewed was Jerry Jones. I couldn't believe he'd even talk to me, but he called me right back to talk about one of his college football coaches. I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan ever since!
