Mary Lou Piazza

Livonia, MI:  July 21, 2016

Mary Lou Piazza of Livonia, MI passed away Thursday July 21, 2016, at 5:32 a.m. at the age of 62. She was born on May 24, 1954, in Pittsford, New York, to her parents Lou and Mary (nee Dibenedetto) Piazza. Mary Lou is survived by her 4 children: Courtney (Chris) Beutler, Richard (Chelsea) Nejman II, Chad Nejman, and Alyssa (David) Najera, her 3 grandchildren: Connor, Ruby, and Lilliana, and her ex-husband Richard Nejman.

Mary Lou was the “lynchpin of the family.” She was an inspiration to the family and her friends through good times and bad. She fought long and hard for 9½ years and never gave up hope, even at the very end. She was extremely family-oriented and would do anything for a family member without hesitation and with a smile. Cooking big Italian dinners for her family and friends was one of her favorite ways to spend time together. Faith was also very important to Mary Lou and she loved her Bible study small group.

Mary Lou also liked to take road trips to visit her out of state family and she enjoyed camping in the summers around Michigan. One of her greatest passions was real estate. She loved staging houses and interior design. Mary Lou was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by so many. She is now in Heaven with the Lord and loved ones such as her mother and we all know she is playing fetch with Spencer, our old dog.

Mary Lou was one of those people you couldn't forget once you met her. When we were in high school, I thought she had a way about her that made me want to find out what she had going. Best wishes to all of her family and friends.

Mary Lou was such a great friend of mine. She and I exchanged letters of life and hope in the past few years. She was an incredible inspiration to me and I will miss her very, very much.

May God bless and keep you Mary Lou!

I shared many, many classes with Mary Lou throughout the years at PHS including Mrs. Gilbert's senior English/Humanities class. We were both fortunate enough to be able to go to Italy in the spring of '72 on the trip that Mrs. Gilbert organized for her students where her daughter and son-in-law acted as our tour guides. Of course we had a blast ...as she wrote in my yearbook that I still somehow have.  We were both Catholic and Mary Lou and I were Confirmation partners at St. John of Rochester Church and went through the classes together to be confirmed. Had to have each others backs when the sisters would grill us. Always with a smile and quick to laugh Mary Lou had a big heart. God bless her. If anyone is interested I can upload some old photos of that Italy trip...let me know.
