Came west to seek fortune and fame after graduating from SUNY in 1975. Was headed to California and wanted to stop in Colorado to see what John Denver was singing about. (That was when John Denver was cool). Got here and ran out of money. Lived here for 3 years before having temporary insanity and moved to Syracuse. After realizing the error of my ways, I relocated back in 1979 and have been here ever since. Have even "crossed over" as I've now lived here longer than I lived in NY. (I think that should qualify me as a native eh?)
Had a number of various jobs in and out of my educated field (yea, secretarial science and fashion merchandising weren't nearly as fun as bartending) but finally got into real estate in 1983. Owned a firm for about 15 years and then sold out just in time. Took job as a managing broker after becoming an empty nestor in September as I had WAAAAAYYYYY too much alone time.
Love it, but damn if all my "little charges" are about 20 years younger. My 40 year old boss lovingly referred to us (both he and I) as "people of our age". God, have to love a kid that can't count very well.
